The Boys and Girls Club of America has been giving young children alternatives from hanging in the street for over 150 years. The organization was founded by Mary Goodwin, Alice Goodwin, and Elizabeth Hammersley in 1860. The three women wanted to give boys who wandered the streets a positive alternative.
